スウェーデンから2月のレターが届きました - Message from founder LENA
Did you know that Sweden is the country in the world where we buy more tulips than any other country?
This is a huge industry as we grow most of them in glass houses during the winter time to have them available already in January.
We love them and combine them with twigs from our gardens and greens from blue berries and more.
This is the true remainder of the spring that will come soon.
Valentine Day is of course something you can relate to when it comes to flowers. But in fact this tradition is not at all very established in Sweden compared to many other countries. But I do expect a rose or two 😊
In my indoor growing room seedlings and plants are thriving and soon it will be difficult to even go in there.
I have to add some more shelves I think! Right now I grow some edible greens like microleaf. I also have a lot of seedlings from exotic fruits like, dragon fruit, papaya, hibiscus and palm trees from seeds I brought back when I went to Gran Canaria in December.
In addition to this there is a lot of cuttings from my houseplants that I have re-potted last week. You can say I am not out of jobs!

前にも書きましたが、スウェーデンはヨーロッパ諸国に比べて非常にチューリップの購入量が多い国というのはご存知でしたか？
スウェーデンではかなり大きな産業となっており、冬であっても温室で球根を発芽させ、1月には市場に出回るようになっています。スウェーデン人はそうして買ってきたチューリップを自宅の小枝や、ブルーベリーなどの緑を使ってアレンジをするのが大好きです。そして、それを見ることで春も近いなと季節を感じています。
さて季節はバレンタインデーですが、世界的にはバレンタインデーは愛する人や親しい人にお花送ったりと植物と非常に関係の深い行事ですが、実はスウェーデンではそこまで浸透はしていません。とはいっても、私も夫からのバラの1本か2本は期待してますけど！
話は変わって、私のガーデニング近況です。
室内の栽培室は足踏み場もないぐらいの大盛況で、棚を増設しないと間に合わないかなと考えています。
その大盛況な栽培室は、マイクロリーフなどの食用の葉っぱがメインですが、そこに昨年の12月にカナリア諸島にヴァカンスに行ったときに買って帰ってきた、南国のフルーツや野菜の種も栽培し始めています。
パパイヤやドラゴンフルーツ、ハイビスカス、ヤシ等が色とりどりに芽吹き始めています。
それに加えて、切り花や枝の株分けも始めていて、もう栽培室は一杯一杯です。
どうですか、冬と言っても私のガーデニングは相変わらずやることが一杯なのです！
