スウェーデンから1月のレターが届きました - Message from founder LENA
Weather is quite warm for January in all of Sweden. Today we have 10 degrees plus. Usually it is about -5 during January in the Stockholm region. A normal deviation, but everybody is concerned about climate changes.
The mild climate definitely make many people to start their growing earlier than usual. The same goes for me. I have just built a small growing space indoors with shelves. On these shelves I have trays and pots with seeds of flowering plants and different type of salat with lamps hanging over them. In the kitchen I have plenty of herbs growing under a lamp. This is a huge trend that many people grow their green leaves, sprouts and herbs indoor. This is part of the wish to live more healthy and for everyone that is interested in cooking their own food to have access to fresh herbs anytime.
Even if I have sown seeds for many, many years it give me a great pleasure to look for seedlings popping up in the pots and trays. It is not less than a miracle I think.
Here in Scandinavia, and especially in Sweden we are great fans of tulips. I think we actually buy more tulips than any other country. We have big bouquets in vases but also have them one and one in smaller glasses in different shape. This give wonderful color and a feeling of spring we look forward to in the darkness that still is dominating.
今年の一月はとても暖かく、この文章を書いているストックホルムの今の気温は10℃です。
例年この時期はマイナス5℃ぐらいなのですが。。。
実は10℃は平均気温の範疇ではあるのですが、みんな地球温暖化のせいではないかと感じています。
とはいえ、このように暖かい気候はガーデナーにとってはいいことで、みな早めに栽培の準備に入っています。
私も例外でなく、小さな室内の栽培ベッドを棚を使って作り始めています。棚にはトレーや小さいポットを使って花や葉物野菜の種を育てます。その際には棚の上部には栽培ライトをつるしていきます。実際の私のキッチンでも栽培ランプの下に無数のハーブが育っています。
これは最近の大きなトレンドで、多くのスウェーデン人がキッチンや室内で栽培ライトを使って、ハーブやスプラウト、葉物野菜を育ています。
健康な生活を願う心と、フレッシュな食材を身近に持てることで、さらに自宅で料理をする楽しみを育てています。
私は何年もタネをまいて植物を育てていますが、いまだに種が芽吹いていくところを見るたびに感動し、そしてこれは奇跡以外の何物でもないと感じます。
話は変わって、この時期に限りませんが、スカンジナビアのとりわけスウェーデン人はチューリップが大好きな国民で、チューリップの購入数は多分どの国よりも多いです。
大きなブーケにするのも好きですが、一本一本きれいな一輪挿しに入れて楽しむこともあります。そうやって色とりどりのチューリップの一輪挿しで彩ることで、まだまだ夜の闇の方が長いスウェーデンを華やかな春の景色へと変えてくれます。
